The DEC Multia's make pretty decent home Linux AP's. The good things are that they are small, cheap (on Ebay), have an onboard Ethernet NIC and two side by side PCMCIA slots (good to avoid interference).

The downside is that they are Alpha procs so it's a little harder to get Linux running on them then a PC, have a tendancy to overheat (take off the case and let them air cool) and are fairly old hardware so they can break pretty much any time.
