Notes
- Bret introduced himself
- Bret questioned the purpose of the captive portal splash page:
- Russell justified it on the basis of:
- node host and projects sole opportunity to communicate with the user
- without *something* to interrupt user, infrastructure is simply taken for granted by user
- goal is for user to understand that they can/should be sharing too
- Open to other ways of achieving those goals
- Keegan notes that presence of captive portal is up to the node host, can be removed
- Russell justified it on the basis of:
Russell delivers a Buffalo WZR-600DHP to KeeganQuinn, receives a $78 check in return payable to Personal Telco. Keegan requests Russell waits until monday to deposit.
- Discussion of how to push forward on Portland Fiber
Russell notes that we are kind of stalled, waiting to tour SandyNet
- Imperative to light fire under city council
- Brief discussion of membership, Connor expressed interest in becoming a member
Russell said he would send Connor a link to the MembershipAgreement
- Keegan threatened to nominate Connor *and* vote for him!
- Russell reviews some node news:
NodeStaccatoGelato is gone (centurylink suggested they get a new router, ignoring the sticker on the old one to contact us in case of trouble)
NodeOpenSpace is gone (again, node host confusion)
NodeHawthorne is temporarily down (until next week?) while the roof is replaced
NodeMississippi suffered an outage when an Alix board lost ability to read CF, board was replaced, network back up after about 12-18 hour outage
NodeFirstUnitarian was disrupted during Open Source Bridge, went by on Tuesday and got everything reconnected
NodeGooseHollow has a router unplugged or something, SteveTree or ConnorScott said they'd go check on it.
Russell mentions that the Germans (Juergen Neumann and Silke Meyer) will be in town next week, plan to meet at NodeLuckyLabNW so we can sit outside, also for convenience of NW attendees.
