1. Access point distros

DonPark

specification of distributions, define distribution requirements, distro matrix suggested

AaronJohnson

start with bewitched, create a list, then discuss additional requirements

LonnieWormley

start a wiki page and list the current reqs, question the additions, does anybody want to lead the dist specs?, what are the requirements for an ap?

AaronJohnson

example > can you run captive portal on it?

DatNguyen

speakeasy allows setup of public nodes

LonnieWormley

hold up let's finish agenda items first then technical ops later, requirements specifications, DarrinEden leads this item

2. Requirements specification and compare existing distros

LonnieWormley

soekris hardware can run a captive portal in the access point, all in one hardware, essentially 486+linux+radio card+runs host ip, possibly going with minipci or pcmcia (some previous discussion on listserv)

LucasSheehan

he hears the consensus is for pcmcia, pcmcia cards are lower in cost

LonnieWormley

discussing hardware model 4521

AaronJohnson

model 4521 includes two pcmcia slots, minipci and compact flash, additional specs look on soekris site

DonPark

why don't we use external access points?

LonnieWormley

Urban is an example of business that already have an access point connected directly to their DSL modem. There is no computer involved so there needs to be a solution provided that allows them to use their access point and PTP captive portal page.

AaronJohnson

public and private channels can organize quality of service needs

DonPark

the maximum is 64 megs

AaronJohnson

clarification > up to 64 megs

3. Soekris hardware

LonnieWormley

soekris.com

StevenSchrodel

does soekris allow for easier mass production?

AaronJohnson

enable people like coffee shops that don't have the time to learn

LonnieWormley

standardize on 4521 agreed, do we want 200 milliwatt cards? what's the recommended card? (open item)

StevenSchrodel

questions the board used in pioneer square, how many days before the next reboot?

AaronJohnson

we're not the only ones to use this configuration, what type of compact flash? like sandisk, flashed locally

DatNguyen

it is flashed via a prepared cd

NatPowning

we must inform people that assembly required, needs cf card-pigtail-wireless card-antenna, price list see hotspotpackage

LonnieWormley

all this stuff acquired from netgate

DarrinEden

recommends amazon and look for 10 dollar rebate

4. PTP equipment inventory tracking

LonnieWormley

this item i'm working on, we're gonna inventory all the hardware

AaronBaer

do you need help with the database

LonnieWormley

probably run on mysql, adam needs to update it

AaronBaer

Aaron is on the database team for asset management, clarification > he will help create the table schema

5. New node development updates

LonnieWormley

new node development projects discussed

6. Tri-Met - T.I.P. MAX line open house and expansion

DatNguyen

tri-met's t.i.p max line open house and expansion

LonnieWormley

he's gonna check out the open house in beaverton

NatPowning

it would be cool to get access along the max line

END
