Notes
- Russell told about his Forest Service Lookout adventure, Ted said he'd stayed at one called Gobbler's Knob near Mt Rainier a few years ago.
Russell talked about the problems we're seeing on Mississippi with the link between Commons and the Bakery building, and that we'd replaced the gear with 900 MHz NanoLoco M900's, and that we are still seeing some packet loss and jitter. Suggestions were made that it would be nice to see the AirView output to see if the spectrum is being used by something else. It needs to be done on-site and it kills the link, so we're going slow on that for now.
Ted reported on a conversation he'd had with Parks personnel about Arbor Lodge, which reminded Russell to try getting a quote from Danny Pharr of Eagle Electric (formerly of Dryer) to see what it would cost to mount a SkyPilot in Arbor Lodge Park.
- Ted inquired about the status of the HAP building downtown, I said I'd heard from the manager a few months ago saying he wanted to do a hotspot in their courtyard and that he'd get back to me. Russell thought he should ping him again to see where things stand.
There was a discussion of BrianWannamaker and what he had in mind for new networks.
- Ted asked about where iris and donk were located and what their rolls are, Russell explained. This reminded Russell that he had board approval to go ahead and buy parts for a replacement donk, and that the momentum had stalled on a 2U power supply that was compatible with the intended motherboard.
- Ted inquired about whether PTP would be interested in cast-off hardddisks from his company, and Russell launched off on a description of his long-simmering pan-tilt project, which basically boiled down to, "we have hard disks already, so thank you very much but probably not".
- Russell explained to Ted about how I-beams work and why they are the shape that they are.
