  * On nodes the /etc/dropbear/authorized_keys should not be group or world writable... the message in the log is "/etc/dropbear/authorized_keys must be owned by user or root, and not writable by others". The images Russell generates seem to be okay, but the ones that Ted and Bergie created are not, i'm suspecting a difference in the umask?   * On nodes the /etc/dropbear/authorized_keys should not be group or world writable... the message in the log is "/etc/dropbear/authorized_keys must be owned by user or root, and not writable by others". Agenda

  • Pick location for next weekly
  • Node notes:
    • NodeArborLodge -- have been doing some research about usage, ideas about recruiting more supporters, Russell in contact with

    • NodeBergie -- updated hardware, an APU1 now in his attic

  • new node hardware option:
    • RussellSenior tried out a D-Link DIR-860L B1 (circa $32), a 2x2 802.11ac router. As with all 802.11ac routers, the radio driver involves a firmware blob, which is unfortunate. The upside is that it's cheap and there is LEDE open-source support for the rest of the system.

  • corporate administration tasks (corporate renewal, etc)
  • offer of DNS hosting, with a small string, discuss
  • Your Item Here

Notes

  • D-Link DIR-860L B1 has a mediatec radio, which means possible better radio support in the future (but currently firmware blob).
  • Also Meraki en-route (PPC/coldfire?)
  • NodeNotes

    • On nodes the /etc/dropbear/authorized_keys should not be group or world writable... the message in the log is "/etc/dropbear/authorized_keys must be owned by user or root, and not writable by others". The images Russell generates seem to be okay, but the ones that Ted and Bergie created are not, suspecting a difference in the umask? Russell's is 0022.
    • MattKlug will bring the former NodeBergie hardware to a future meeting to fix the IP on the uplink (it was static).

    • NodeBergie built with LEDE, RussellSenior updated instructions.

      • and API updates.
    • NodeArborLodge Nathan prompted Amanda to respond, which noted landlord moved back to house, so gear is able to be picked up.

      • replace former gateway at Aaron's house with repeater.
      • mac address appears on daily basis (104 unique since June - limited to those that present hostname)
      • BenFoote will be back next week we can ask about splash page mods to solicit ArborLodge donations.

  • We owe money (late fee) on form CT-12 due August 5. Russell may drive down to the office?
  • Corporate renewal ($50) is due next week.
    • DNS service (DNSimple - Anthony Eden - brother of Darren Eden)
      • mostly DNS zone management, but also domain registration (no savings there, but could move away from CanvasHost)

      • iris and knod are currently hosting DNS
  • Email responses from last week
    • APANO - no thanks
    • Mary Beth Henry - response - on sabbatical
    • No response from DavidSchor

  • ActionServices

    • Ops team, invite to PLUG?
  • Next week's meeting is the hack night at NodeKeegan (also board meeting?)

  • FCC will fine TPLink due to allowing overpower radios in the stock firmware
    • they additionally want capture of the open source development of firmware
  • Adam did not stop by, but Jeff did
