Agenda
- Annual Board Meeting 2024:
Establish BoardOfAdvisors

- Business items:
- Set annual membership fee to $0 to reflect reality
Change the body empowered to grant membership outside the host-a-node and pay-a-fee avenues from BoardOfAdvisors to BoardOfDirectors
- Normal weekly meeting
- Pick location for next weekly
- Node notes:
NodeFirstUnitarian -- Antenna and pigtails ordered from L-com: $361.16 with ground shipping.
NodeBillyRays -- MatthewKlug reports talking to a bartender who says wifi at NodeBillyRays is unusable or something, it looks like there is data moving, including a Roku or some similar streaming device. Maybe consider upgrading the hardware?
NodeEleven -- Node has been down since late September, Russell stopped by today to investigate. They have switched to Verizon wirelesss backhaul, and we were plugged into the WAN port. I moved the ethernet into a Verizon LAN port, and rebooted, everything golden!
NodeAnnapurna -- ap12 is back online!
- Node software refresh coming soon?
Russell did a survey of deployed software, the oldest (to prioritize) is on MR24, however there are pending fixes upstream in OpenWrt, so he is waiting for them to land before the start of the paving project.
- ARPA Grant update:
Some fireworks from JuanMuro
- Russell's friendly response
- People's Digital Safety Fair preparations
- Asahi Linux demo

Notes
- Node notes:
NodeAnnapurna - ap12 came back up, ap4 went down and came back up
NodeBillyRays - Suggestion from the bartender the wifi is unusable, but is servicing a Roku device, maybe buffalo could be replaced. Possibly meet there in November.
NodeFirstUnitarian - Gear ordered, should arrive in a week, no idea if we can bill some of the cost back
NodeEleven - Russell stopped by and returned to service by moving cable from wan to lan, changed providers from Comcast to Verizon
NodeCascadia - Discussed, it moved sometime around start of pandemic. Did not connect with them as to whether it would/could come back
NodeLuckyLabNW - Will check at the monthly on a possible location to mount the external AP
- Node software updates, Russell is waiting for a couple of upstream fixes before updating images on all nodes
- Russell is now restarting (after public IP change) DNSmasq after syslog restart
- People's Digital Safety Fair - set up at 8am, Russell is working on talk, has old banner for table, will have demo nodes + client device
- Russell asked for projector and wired internet, but was told that there was a wireless internet connection
- Other security talks happening
- ARPA Grant Update - email from Juan about public records request
AnnualBoardMeeting2024 meeting started at 8:05pm
RussellSenior moved that we establish a BoardOfAdvisors, to include SteveTree, seconded by TedBrunner, approved by all
RussellSenior moved that we continue with officers in their current roles (RussellSenior:President,JasonBergstrom:Secretary,TedBrunner:Treasurer), TedBrunner seconded, approved by all
Annual Membership Fees: RussellSenior moved that we document in the wiki (membership page) that we set the membership fee as $0, seconded by JasonBergstrom, approved RussellSenior's text at meeting.
Change membership approval requirement from BoardOfAdvisors to BoardOfDirectors in membership page, approved RussellSenior's edited text in meeting.
- Should we expand the board? What would these 1-2 positions be? We'd also like new members to show up for at least monthly meetings, as we've now codified to have the board improve new members. Quorum is the concern. Tabled for later discussion.
AnnualBoardMeeting2024 adjourned at 8:37pm
- Next week's meeting is on Jitsi
