My long term interests in wireless have been inspired by [http://www.microship.com/bike/ Nomad Research Labs], reading too much sci-fi, such as "A Deepness in the Sky" by Vernor Vinge, "Snow Crash" by Neal Stephenson and the Free Software Foundation's GNU project. Something I came across recently addresses a problem with non-continous power. http://www.l4ka.org/projects/persistence/ Sounds useful when my future solar powered recumbent temporarily runs out of juice. I am also building a Cookbook 245 CCD Camera for my 8 inch Meade Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope. I am working towards having a remote controlled astronomy lab in the rural mid-west US. Wireless links from the house to the top of the hill half a mile away as well as wind and solar power storage are being considered. |
