I want my communications utility owned and operated as a co-op by the local users.

My long term interests in wireless have been inspired by [http://www.microship.com/bike/ Nomadic Research Labs], reading too much sci-fi, such as "A Deepness in the Sky" by Vernor Vinge, "Snow Crash" by Neal Stephenson and the Free Software Foundation's GNU project.

I am also building a [http://alain.klotz.free.fr/audela/ Cookbook 245 CCD Camera] for my 8 inch Meade Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope. I am working towards having a remote controlled astronomy lab in the rural mid-west US. Wireless links from the house to the top of the hill half a mile away as well as wind and solar power storage are necessary. Eventually I would like to contribute to amateur [http://home.achilles.net/~jtalbot/spectra/ spectroscopy] measurements.
