'''How Got Started In Wireless Networking:'''<
> After reading numberous stories on Slashdot on 802.11b I decided to do some research myself. That is when I found out about communities joining together to get public wireless networking together. I've received some equipment and I have started experimenting with WarDriving using NetStumbler. |
'''Node Info:''' <
> I'm looking to see what interest would exist to create a wireless mesh network in the Brookwood neighborhood in Hillsboro. |

'''Equipment'''<
> *Toshiba Satellite Pro - Pentium 90 w/16 MB of RAM *Orinoco Gold PCMCIA Adapter *Eagle Explorer GPS More equipment details coming soon. |
For equipment, I'm considering the Open-Mesh OM1P professional mini router mounted in a weatherproof box with a 12 volt battery charged with an external solar panel and antenna. Hopefully whatever I can put together can eventually be dispatched to either be a router or repeater node on the mesh network easily by anyone for little cost. |
