* '''Node378''' - SE: Brooklyn: Labarre Machine Works - Gary of Labarre Machine Works has donated everything for this node including hardware, internet bandwidth and rooftop access. Initial install is a Soekris 4511 with an Engenius 200mw radio connected to an 8dbi Maxrad omni antenna mounted on the roof of an industrial building with excellent line-of-site to a good piece of the neighborhood. Coverage includes Brooklyn School Park as well as at least a hundred residential units. Thank you Gary! |

Name: Nathaniel Powning - I go by NatBR Email: nat@powning.org BR Nick: nat or natp when that's taken BR Primary Node Info: wiki:NodeId:114
PTP Status:
I've just reignited my involvement with the project mid-January and I'm still getting up to speed with everything that's going on. Here's the small list of tasks I'm working on to help out:
Soekris Group Buy - I begain organizing a group purchase of SoekrisBox net4521's on January 31st and have received requests for a 4501-30 and 5 4521-30's plus I'm buying a 4511-20 for the NodeMacadamHamilton install as well as another 4521-30 to either replace my home node or to put in as the Macadam node if the 4511-20 doesn't work out easily. This brings the order to eight units total which saves us $146 total by purchasing more than five. These are the core of what's running our high-profile Pioneer Square node, I'm hoping that getting several more of these into the hands of PTP members will help accelerate the use and development of these units. From what I've seen so far they're really slick boxes. I'm planning to organize a second group purchase as we go into March/April provided these things turn out to be a good solution. If you're interested in getting one of these send me an email and I'll put you on the list.
Here's the list of nodes I've setup and maintained:
Planned: NodeMacadamHamilton - I've got the owners of a small business with a good T1 connection to allow me to place a node in their window to get started. They're cozy with the owners of the building so after the initial install I plan to persue a roof antenna or something similar. Waiting on Soekris hardware to arrive, will be placing this setup in a window for now until we're prepared to approach the land lord with further ideas.

Node114 - SE: Mt. Scott Park - I'm running a node out of my home in southeast Portland near Mt. Scott park near 72nd and Woodstock. This setup is a Soekris 4521 with an Engenius 200mw PCMCIA radio connected to an 8dbi Maxrad omni antenna mounted on my roof about 30 feet above the ground. This node was installed in December 2001 and the hardware was upgraded in February 2003.
