Bart Massey has contacted David Jensen reguarding PersonalTelco putting our essid onto the outdoor southpark PSU pubnet. This would free users from having to use the authentication system and reduce load on nocat the auth server Bart also is open to helping us with experiments by providing backhaul and rooftop access. I will be meeting with him Jan 20 or 21 to determine what level of cooperation we will have and what he can do for us. I think it will be a great oppertunity to increase the standing of PTP by partnering with the largest university in the state. Please leave comments or wishlist here so I have some good ideas of what we want when I meet. Bart is also the faculty advisor to the Portland State University aerospace society which is working on 802.11b based telemetry for high altitude rockets. |
