Agenda

  • Pick location for next weekly
  • Node notes:
    • NodeFirstUnitarian -- on Friday and Saturday, work was done on the Bell Tower which we had lost contact with. On Friday, Russell investigated the ongoing outage to the Bell Tower roof, replaced the old WGT634U (ap1) with a WDR3600 (new ap1) and was perplexed in his inability to ping the roof device from ap1. He was able to ping ap2 from the PoE injector with his laptop. He did replace the PoE injector and that might have actually "fixed it", if temporarily. Afterwards, it was noted that the port going towards the Bell Tower (ap2, a Soekris net4826), was flapping a little, every few minutes we'd lose link and two seconds later it came back. On Saturday, JasonBergstrom accompanied Russell and even climbed on the roof. In the meantime, an intermediate WDR3600 (dubbed ap3) was plugged in near the PoE injector, both to extend signal, but also to move an ethernet transceiver closer to ap2. That seems to at least partially alleviated the flapping problem. We are going to watch it for a while before taking more dramatic action.

  • Discussion with No One Left Offline, a non-profit that is working on digital divide issues, primarily by providing hotspot devices to people in need.
  • Russell owes Jason scans of our bank statements, so the CT-12 can be completed.
  • Russell was interviewed for a volunteer position on the Multnomah County Library Advisory Board.
  • Russell applied for a position on the Oregon Broadband Advisory Council, which the governor appoints.

Notes

  • Russell produced bank statements and PayPal transactions for Jason to input into CT-12

  • Russell will provide Ted and Jason with PayPal account info, and will work on getting Ted a debit card

  • Russell will renew the Post Office box
  • Node notes:
    • NodeFirstUnitarian - Network had been down earlier last week. Russell replaced widget and injector Friday, which brought gear up, but still had drop outs.

      • Saturday plugged in WDR3600 at PoE junction, did not see any issues with cable on roof, decided not to replace run or Soekris
      • Have seen dropouts since, similar pattern as overnight Friday on link to Soekris
