Ampere hour (abreviated amp hour or Ah) is a measurement of the amount of electrical energy, or amps, flowing in an electrical circuit, times the time that it has flowed. It's often used to describe the capacity of batteries. A milliampere hour (mAh) is 1,000th of an Ah. The ampere is named after Andre Marie Ampere, French physicist (1775-1836).
Examples:
- "AA" batteries hold around 1200 to 1800 mAh while larger deep cycle batteries hold 60 Ah and up.
- A 60 Ah battery could provide 3 amps for 20 hours.
When Sam was considering a SolarPoweredAccessPoint, he wanted to make sure that the solar panel and batteries would provided enough amp hours to adequately power the equipment when it's needed.
