Agenda
Decide on disposition of remaining MississippiGrantProject funds
Notes
CalebPhillips obtains initial pitcher of draft beverages on his dime.
DonPark obtains an additional pitcher of draft beverages utilizing the special dispensation accorded to PTP members in the establishment
- Russell shows off two artifacts:
- bicycle stumbler kit
- dual omni antenna mount
- Troy brings an MGP metrix mark-ii, with one broken and one working radio, plus PoE injector
- Troy retains the broken radio
- Caleb borrows the working radio to test in his new metrix (that he got with a stinky prism radio)
- Russell takes the emptied husk of metrix and PoE injector home to prepare for deployment
CalebPhillips brings receipt for a chimney strap for Ed's roof ($15.84 + $5.13 shipping)
RussellSenior forked over $25 for the MississippiStreetFair booth spot and $5 for a sign
Troy reports that MGP funds in PTP accounts are at $794 (approximately), plus $130 we received from QuirksAndQuandries for a MississippiNetworkRepeater. The discussion turns to how to spend the remaining grant funds. It was decided not to purchase an additional metrix at this juncture, but instead:
purchase six NetgearWgt634u devices from justdeals (RussellSenior placed the order after the meeting: $269.70, free ground shipping)
- purchase two 27 dBi 802.11a antennas for use on Ed's and the Naya roofs (at ~$53 each, from hyperlinktech.com)
- reserve the remainder of the funds for publicity and outreach
DonPark and RussellSenior relate MississippiStreetFair experiences
RussellSenior suggests another cast of the net for suitable roofs more advantageous than the AlturaFurniture roof. Need a pair of radios, someone on MississippiCommons with binoculars and another person with a helium balloon on a long string. Find houses, drop a request through the mailbox or something.
Another outreach task needing doing is getting some exposure into the neighborhood monthly newsletter, the BoiseVoice.
- Troy brings an MGP metrix mark-ii, with one broken and one working radio, plus PoE injector
- Election procedures:
DonPark asked whether it was necessary to hold an election, given that there is only one nominee for each board position and no hint that anyone else is remotely interested
MichaelWeinberg asked about write-ins. DonPark was inclined to think that write-ins would be bypassing the nominations procedure, and that nominations were closed.
RussellSenior suggested that the procedure be something like this:
DonPark asks UnanimousConsent of the voting membership to elect TroyJaqua and RussellSenior to the two open board positions for which they have been duly nominated.
- If there are no objections, the casting and counting of ballots can be dispensed with, and the nominees can be declared "elected".
In the unlikely event that there are objections from a member eligible to vote, then the names of eligible voters shall be read aloud and slips of paper distributed for the purpose of casting the votes, and then DonPark will be in charge of tallying the votes.
- Discovered two problems with the network:
- DNS resolution of "mississippi.personaltelco.net" from inside is broken, points at the external interface rather than the internal one
The Amnesia repeater appears to have a problem with authentication (and because of NATing, all clients do as well). Not good. Reboot didn't fix it, therefore assuming it is a temporary NoCat problem. Should check again soon. Caleb generally expressed dislike for NAT on the repeaters, advocated something that doesn't involve NAT.
