A few words about Powell's City of Books...its Big. We are not talking Big as in they carry all the new Tom Clancy novels and most of the Nora Roberts books you see folks reading who might not otherwise be literate, we are talking truly BIG. There are so many books at Powells is is thought that the sheer weight of all the words there might in fact cause a sort of gravitational warpage in the surrounding area. Think of every book you have ever read and then go find it at Powells probably in at least 3 differnt different versions one of which will be the one you read origianly when you were 14 and thought you could tackle Magister Ludi but ditched it half way through for Philip K Dick's Flow My Tears, which you will also find at Powells.
We are talking BIG here like in Library of Alexandria meets the New York Public Library minus the fines plus a killer cool World Cup Coffee shop on the main floor that now has a PTP node for that always on everywhere you go internet goodness you are comming to expect in Portland.
