FrequencyHoppingSpreadSpectrum is a technique for using radio spectrum. FHSS chooses a set of small channels (say 1MHz) within a band and then periodically (and predictably) hops between them (every 224 microseconds?). 802.11 requires the implementation of FHSS, but 802.11b abandons it in favor of 802.11.
