Notes
Russell arrived about 10 minutes late at LuckyLabNW, checked in with the counter folks, and along with other attendees got to work. Untangled cat5 and other wires in the backroom. Hung a WGT634U on screws on the existing plywood board. Stapled the cat5 to the board to partially secure the PoE splitter. Checked it was working, corrected the SSID, and declared victory.
Next stop, NodeSlabtown. Had hoped to screw WGT to wall, but space was confined and cords of inadequate length. Used stand. ChristopherChen routed the new power cord to the WGT expertly. Device wedged into (hopefully) a secure perch. Troy realizes the crew is populated in a way that exceeds the need, excuses himself and heads home.
Next stop, NodeAnnaBannanas. Easily bypassed the NuCab downstairs and unplugged it. Upstairs, replaced the old Netgear with the new Netgear WGT634U. Corrected SSID. Done.
Next stop was NodeUrbanGrindNW, which despite google telling my it stayed open until 10:30pm, was discovered to be closed. We refrained from disturbing the nice man asleep on the couch. This node is waiting for another opportunity.
Next stop was NodePowellsTech. ChristopherChen again expertly decommissioned the power cords for old gear and selected a nice location for the WgtCab. Twist, twist, click, click. Done.
Last node stop was NodePowells. Flashed the sticker-encrusted WGT634U at the barrista, informed him we were there to upgrade gear, up stepladder, click-click, untangle a few power cords. Done.
- Our work complete, we choose a local Thai restaurant to enjoy some nice food and chit-chat.
Decommissioned gear is aggregated in back of Russell's car. Will be retiring the NuCabs to FreeGeek in the not distant future.
