NodeLionsEye -- offline since about Jan 30 17:02
NodeFirstUnitarian -- maybe this Sunday or next Tuesday for a new access-point handoff
- Fun times with Ziply Fiber!
- Russell bought another EWS2910P (v3), a refurb via the Bezoid for ~$90.
- Ted is working on flashing a Ubiquiti ER-X
ARPA $400k grant opportunity: https://www.portland.gov/oct/digital-equity-strategic-initiatives/digital-divide-resp/news/2023/1/27/apply-wireless-internet
- Russell has announced an offer to partner with or assist applicants
Russell had a discussion with JenniferRedman about the program and the various, sometimes non-overlapping, ways we could help out
- Russell participated in an event called Portland Civic Information Hub, met some interesting people, including:
Lisa Loving did a story on Personal Telco back in the early days for a community newspaper, remembered NigelBallard
the woman who runs BookPub and pitched them as a Personal Telco host, she seemed open to it
Annie Lewis, deputy director of MultCoLib, who I regaled with my MultCoLib connections and requested a "chair" we had sponsored back in the late 90s Central Branch remodel if they end up disposing of them.

Notes
- Node notes:
NodeLionsEye - Seems to have been failing prior to yesterday
NodeFirstUnitarian - Still trying to connect on a date, needs a 20-25' ethernet cable, Russell bought one. Trouble with printer/scanner (likely 4pm Sunday)
- Russell bought another switch EWS2910P, SFP/copper model Wilf is using, just sub $100, 48v PoE
- Ted bought an ER-X that he will be doing an install on
- His 200Mb Comcast connection is only running at half of that, support says he needs to upgrade his modem, bought a new Arris modem. Then replaced ethernet to cable modem on old cable modem and is now at 270Mb
- City announced $400K in grants for disadvantaged area deployment
JenniferRedman was concerned we may apply, but Russell suggested we are a resource most likely, she would be interested in having Russell review applications (since we're not applying). Short turnaround for application.
Russell sent notification to DIN earlier in the week (via the city) that PTP would be available to consult->partner
- Russell was thinking of a single building with fibre/ethernet fan out
Portland Civic Information Hub - dissemination of civicly relevant information, some local journalists (OPB) attending that appealed to Russell, at OpenSignal.
- Russell suggested next meeting should have what problem they're trying to solve, but also be open to criticism.
- Ziply Fiber - $10 fee for router to provide phone service, installer suggested there would be no charge. Removing it caused service to end.
Next week's meeting is in person at NodeGooseHollow
