1st project is to find PCI based cards at a price that won't make me wince. $150 was a bit steep. I've found success with the RangeLanDsComments cards that MichaelCondati sourced for us.[[BR]]
2nd project is to adapt telescope pointing technology to have a directional antenna in my attic scan for connections.[[BR]]
3rd project is to have antenna maintain a link with the best signal found. [[BR]]
4th project is to help others do the same.
The project plan is listed below. I went with the RangeLanDsComments cards from MichaelCodanti. Have 2 cards, 2 pigtails, now I need a PCI adapter to plug one into a desktop to bring the AP up.[[BR]]

That proved problematic. So I bought a DlinkDwl520 card. Which requires a PCI 2.2 slot, available on very new hardware currently (June 2002) so I'm going back to Frys . . . [[BR]]

The current project plan:
1 get a PCI card (or luck into a PCI adapter for the Range LAN card) [[br]]
2 get home node online [[br]]
3 scan for connections ;) [[br]]
 4 document document document [[br]]
5 help others do the same.

I'm new around here. I have no wireless equipment yet - so lend your opinions! My home systems are mostly Linux based. The goal is to get a wireless connection to some other part of the Portland net.
