Maintenance and System Log
2016-11-05: Replaced a Buffalo WZR600DHP with a Meraki MR24. Note that the device is now attached to the wall with a T-8 torx, to power cycle at the device, a torx bit is needed. The alternative is to power cycle from the other end of the cat5 at the PoE injector --RussellSenior
2012-11-21: Updated firmware to r34240 --RussellSenior
2010-07-28: Moved bowser over to a new Clear backhaul from Integra, a speed test indicated about 5-6Mbps download, but about 150ms latency. --RussellSenior
2009-07-23: Along with a considerable passel of people (see WeeklyMeeting20090722), decommissioned the NuCab and replaced it with a WgtCab. --RussellSenior
2008-12-29: Received a twitter report from @bleything that the node was not getting DHCP. I noted that bowser wasn't seeing a link on its LAN ethernet. Flashed a donated WRT54G that was sitting in a pile next to my desk with OpenWrt 7.09 and took it over. The old D-Link has fallen repeatedly and the LAN ports are of dubious integrity. I speculated that they were to blame and replaced it with the Linksys. Also, the PoE splitter has a slider between 5V and 12V. It was in the 5V position, but the D-Link wants 7.5V. I switched it to 12V and plugged in the Linksys and everything was happy again. Need to send a note to Gary Geist about the switch. --RussellSenior
2007-06-29: Responded to an outage report, found the access point was emitting beacons, but could not connect. The access point is powered from a PoE splitter. I power-cycled the access point and normal function returned. --RussellSenior
2007-05-09: With instruction from JasonMcArthur, modified /usr/share/nocatauth/gateway/htdocs/splash.html to make "Original Destination" the default by strategic relocation of "checked" string. --RussellSenior
2006-09-10: ethernet cable from accesspoint to nucab had bad crimp at nucab end. replaced end. DonPark
2006-07-27: RussellSenior, DonPark, TroyJaqua and I came by to look into broken-ness. Problem solved by restarting dhcpd. It looks like dhcpd has been silent in the logs since June 23rd. Hrm. -- CalebPhillips
2006-06-07: Held WeeklyMeeting20060607 here with the intention of installing the node. The PoE is borked and will need to be replaced, so we temporarily installed the AP in the back office. The node is functional, but the signal is weak. - CalebPhillips
